Here in Eugene we were so excited to again host the US Track and Field Olympic Trials at historic Hayward Field. Dandelions created the award bouquets for each athlete who will travel to London as an Olympian. A total of 120 athletes were awarded and we worked with the committees color scheme to create a yellow and green bouquet rich in textures. Spider mums, green trick dianthus, solid aster, green chyrsanthemums and yellow chrysanthemums were accented with bear grass and river grass. With world records and meet records set it was an exciting week of track and field to watch. Congratulations Olympians!
Our littlest florist, Shiloh, checks out her mom’s work!
She had plenty of fun with her mini bouquet
We also designed centerpieces and arrangements for British Petroleum’s hospitality suite on site at Hayward Field and at their hotel. It was great that their logo colors happened to match perfectly with our own UO! We used long-lasting tropicals to combat the outdoor venue and 14 day length of the event. What a fun job we have!
The hotel entrance flowers were a mixture of oncidium orchids, pincushion protea, bromeliad blossoms and grasses
On Saturday, June 2nd, 2012, the 37th annual Prefontaine Classic Track and Field meet will be held at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Originally named the Hayward Field Restoration Race, this meet adopted the name “Pre Classic” in honor and remembrance of the legendary Steve Prefontaine, or “Pre,” who passed away one week before the race in 1975. At the time of his death, Pre was the best distance runner in the US.
Today, the Pre Classic attracts the top athletes from all over the world to compete in this premier meet.
Dandelions Flowers is so proud to garnish the victory laps of these incredibly talented athletes. Since 2008, we have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this great event in Track Town, USA!
This Sunday, June 7, is the Prefontaine Classic here in Track Town USA: Eugene, Oregon.
The Prefontaine Classic is the premiere track & field meet in the United States, and the only stop in North America on the prestigious World Athletics Tour. The event is named after Eugene’s own Steve Prefontaine who, at the time of his death at age 24, was the best distance runner in America!
