I’m really excited about this new line of jewelry that we are carrying here at Dandelions. The Vintage Pearl line has beautiful craftsmanship that shows in every piece. Each item is hand-stamped, meaning they don’t use a machine to create the letters or designs in their studio with the result that each item is one-of-a-kind.
As a mother myself I am impressed with the dedication that it took Erin, the founder of The Vintage Pearl, to start creating jewelry and form a business while being a stay-at-home mom of 4 kids. She taught herself the art of jewelry making and the success of her business soon prompted a fully-dedicated studio space and retail outlets.
Their handstamped jewelry is created using a variety of materials including sterling silver, freshwater pearls and swarovski birthstone crystals. Their statement says “Our desire is to design and create beautiful handmade pieces that will connect with your heart and soul” and they certainly do.
We are carrying a delicious variety of Portland-made Moonstruck Chocolates. These gourmet chocolates are perfect for stocking stuffers or as a stand-alone gift for friends, teachers, or co-workers. The packaging makes these handcrafted delights an easy gift-to-go.
We love to promote and support local businesses, and one of these is a mother-daughter team based out of Springfield, OR, and they make the most beautiful, intricate flowers…out of beads.
Shyvonne Moore and her daughter Elexess started their company – Forever Flowers – two years ago. This creative product rose (pun intended) out of a hobby of Shyvonne’s: she loved beading. Shyvonne would get ideas from beading books and put her own twist on them, so for the last 10 years, she’d make delightful beaded art as gifts for friends and family. When they decided to go into business, they came up with the name “Forever Flowers” because they could provide a product that doesn’t die, and isn’t easy to break.
Our customers love these fun, beaded blossoms, not only because of the careful detail they display, but also because they’re so versatile:
You can wear them as a bright hair accessory!
And for this past Homecoming season we were able to use them as a base for some unique wrist-corsages:
As many of our customers do, we LOVE chocolate at Dandelions! We think it goes great with almost any occasion and who wouldn’t want to receive a delivery of chocolate right to their door? In addition to our other local chocolates, Euphoria Chocolate and Chocolate Decadence, Dandelions now carries Moonstruck Chocolates.
We began carrying the heart shaped gift boxes of truffles at Valentine’s and they were such a success we decided to carry them year-round. The chocolate creations of Moonstruck are hand-crafted in Portland, OR and look as amazing as they taste. Since we do lots of chocolate baskets and food baskets we are delighted to have Moonstruck to add to these gift baskets. Refrigeration isn’t required, even for the truffles, which makes them a perfect gift to deliver. Currently we carry packages of 2, 4 and 9 truffles but will be expanding to include some of their fun & adorable goodies soon!
Next week is our prom festivus, PROMPALOOZA! We bring in some snacks and beverages for prom-goers to enjoy while our expert staff helps take orders for one-of-a-kind corsages and boutonnieres. You can order your prom floral jewelry anytime (and even online) but from 3:00-5:30 these days we have extra staff on hand to help so that we can turn your prom vision into reality!
We love prom at Dandelions and have so much fun helping to customize and create each individual piece of floral art! Some of the fun accessories available this year include: Flutterzz rhinestone feathers, shiny metallic leaves in multiple colors and, as always, lots of rhinestones!!
Prom season is quickly approaching and as you finalize your dress and tuxedo looks, don’t forget about your prom corsage or prom boutonniere options, too. Selecting a boutonniere is one of the last items to check off the list before the big night but that doesn’t mean you should overlook it. A boutonniere can be simple such as a single blossom or as fun & funky as you can imagine, depending upon your personality.
Have fun with the process and don’t feel like you need to order the same-old same-old thing that everyone else is ordering. Florists are artists and love to create a one-of-a-kind piece for your special night.
Ok, if you are looking for shoes that add a little pizazz to your ensemble you need to check out the shoes by Walkin on Air. This fabulous footwear is ideal for wedding shoes but I would totally rock them for a night out or even with my favorite jeans. They come in a variety of colors and shoe styles all with hand-applied lace embellishments. They even have a cute lace headband that would be great for a vintage wedding.
The team behind Walkin on Air are best friends, Liz and Jennae, from the Twin Cities area in Minnesota. They work with their customers to make sure the right style and fit are chosen for each customer and occasion. Check out some of my favorite styles below or check out their Facebook page here! Happy shopping!

Join us here at Dandelions at as we host this exciting event, and take advantage of the opportunity to meet Bob Welch. Not only will these autographed books be great to pick up for yourself, but they’ll also make a wonderful present during this holiday gift-giving season.
Also, all Dandelions merchandise will be 20% off during the book-signing.
Eugene’s own Bob Welch, a columnist for the Register Guard has just had 3 of his books hit the market, and we have two of them – “Cascade Summer: My Adventure on Oregon’s Pacific Crest Trail” and “52 Little Lessons from It’s a Wonderful Life” – for sale here at Dandelions. Why is a flower shop talking about books, you might wonder? Well, firstly because literature (like floral design) is a form of art. Secondly, because Eugene is a small town, so when someone from our community excels, we want to back them up as much as we can. Also, Bob Welch will be having a book-signing in our store in early December. As soon as we have the date, we’ll let you know.
These are his three books that were released this fall:
Here’s a little about Bob Welch : He’s not just an award-winning columnist for the Register Guard (and had his articles published in the Los Angeles Times, Sports Illustrated and Readers Digest, to name a few), he’s also authored 15 books, some of which have won him awards and accolades in the literary world. His book American Nightingale, about World War II nurse Frances Slanger convinced Massachusetts Legislature to honor her with a plaque in the Nurses’ Hall in the Boston State House.
So if you’re looking for a good read, these books are some great places to start. They also make fantastic Christmas presents!! You can read more about Bob Welch on his website www.bobwelch.net.
