The voting process happens in 2 segments. The first segment takes place until February 11 in which local business are nominated. The top 5 businesses in each category are then voted on in the second stage: February 21-March 7.
1). You can’t go wrong with roses. Red long-stem roses are still the #1 hit for Valentine’s Day because women love them and probably always will.
2). Make it personal. Tell your florist a hobby or passion that she loves and allow the florist to create something that incorporates that. This will show her that a) you listen and b) you care.
3). Get the most bang for your buck. Have the flowers delivered to her at work where everyone can ooh & aah over how sweet you are. She may insist that it is embarrassing but everyone loves a public display of affection. Women want flowers and want everyone else to know they received them.
4). Don’t forget about the card message. It’s as important to women as the flowers themselves. Be yourself but if there was ever a time to lay it on thick…it’s now. Don’t be afraid to ooze love & romance. It’s what women want. Check out some ideas here…
5). Order early. We all love to procrastinate (myself included) but you really want to plan ahead if at all possible. This will ensure that what you order will be available. This is especially true if you want something other than red roses. The more specific you are, the more time you need to allow the florist to obtain what you are looking for.
Remember…it’s about love. If worse comes to worse stop by the flower store on the big day and pick something out to hand to your sweetie in person. And nothing beats a hand-written note!
Roses are certainly the #1 hit for expressing love for Valentine’s Day. There are many other beautiful flowers, however, that also convey romantic feelings.
Orchids: Suggestive of beauty and seduction, orchids are ideal for Valentine’s Day. They have an opulence to them that is so luxurious.
Tulips: Ideal alone or tucked in with other flowers tulips are very popular. One of the unique things about tulips is that they continue to grow after cut which is why they tend to take on their own shape.
Lily: These ancient flowers come in many varieties…
Peruvian lilies (alstromeria), calla lilies, oriental lilies, asiatic lilies & stargazer lilies.
The most romantic flower, of course, is the one that she claims is her favorite. Knowing what her favorite flower is and using it to express your love. If this flower is unusual make sure to let your florist know in plenty of time so that they can obtain it for you.
Although specific flowers have meanings of love or are popularly associated with love, ALL flowers say “I’m thinking of you” in a way nothing else can. Proven to boost moods, flowers are a sure bet.
The newest issue of Eugene Weddding came out recently and our work from one of our weddings is featured!! Unfortunately the magazine didn’t let readers know we created the flowers but I know our bride, Kelsey, was delighted to see her bouquet featured.
This was such a fun wedding and took a team effort to pull it off. Julianne created the designs and Shirley transported them “up the river” to Eagle Rock Lodge on the McKenzie River. The beautiful sunny day allowed the rich orange tones to shine and photographer Bryan Rupp captured the day stunningly.
Here is a gallery with additional images by Bryan Rupp Photography (amazing photos) that shows this fun and joyous day. Kelsey incorporated the woodsy atmosphere into her bouquets and decorations but kept it decidedly upscale. Burnt orange calla lilies, “Coffee Break” roses, & sedum were the basis of all of the designs with manzanita branches throughout both the ceremony and reception.
All this week we are running a contest on Facebook for a chance to win our Valentine’s Day bouquet. We want you, our fans, to name our arrangement and the person who comes up with the winning name…wins the arrangement!
Just leave your comment with your name idea and the winner will be announced on Facebook next week. Even fans from out of town can compete and if they win, we’ll send them a gift certificate!
So put your thinking caps on…

This was a cute baby shower we did flowers for. They created a “nesting” theme using the colors of the mother-to-be’s nursery: blue and brown. In addition to flowers, they created welcome kits for the guests that included a pen, items for games, advice cards, and a cookie cutter party favor. So cute!!
The food table piece was reminiscent of a spring forest- tulip & daffodil bulbs popping up from the moss and birds nests nestled in the twigs
Above Left: the “welcome kits” for guests Above Right: a super cute “bear basket” gift
The nest themed was continued in two smaller arrangements that were woodsy yet simple
When I first met bride, Michelle, and her mom I knew this wedding was going to be special. Michelle was planning her wedding from out of state and we did most of our correspondence by email but in person she was even more of a joy! I have never met a nicer bride! Thanks to Imagery by Jordan for the gorgeous photos taken on Michelle’s big day at Domaine Meriwether Winery outside of Veneta, OR.
Michelle chose eggplant and purples to contrast with champagne, white, and green in her flowers as well in accents throughout her wedding. She was stunning as the pictures show…
